Sherlyn believes in creating a dynamic learning experience for them and through a holistic approach, provide them with the best environment to help them develop.
Philosophy and Experience
Sherlyn started working with children during her internship
attachment at a special needs school. Through that she developed a keen
interest in the field of special education. She went on to do more
internship attachments at a Mental Health Institute and helping out with
therapies (such as Speech and Occupational) and assessments at a
private Child Developmental Clinic. Before joining Children’s
Partnership and Acacia Rise, she taught at a private inclusion
pre-school setting.
She understands that every
individual child is unique and learns in different ways. Thus teaching
should be focused more on their strengths, helping the child discover
what their interests are and what they are good at. The importance of
family and a strong support system help create a holistic environment
for the child to learn and to maximise their potential. She is
passionate to expand her knowledge in all the various areas such as
interventions, assessments, and teaching. This will improve her ability
to help and guide not only the children, but their families as well.
